All Callie wanted was to flee the big city and finish her latest book in peace, but life in the small town comes with unexpected temptation and danger.
Autumn Leaves A Small Town Lesbian Romance Novel Callie Rebecca Series Book 1 edition by Barbara Winkes Literature Fiction eBooks
Eh, where to begin?Somewhere in this book is an interesting take on the coming out journey of a married woman with children attracted to her neighbor. The situations are, I suppose, realistic enough, including the small town attitudes of some of the people who live around Callie and Rebecca. Callie and Rebecca are good, strong characters with believable back stories. They're both likeable and you want things to work out for them.
The problem with this book is that the writing is very disjointed. There are incomplete paragraphs, sentences and thoughts. This book was harder to read than it should have been. There were grammatical errors and obvious corrections which included some of the sentence that the author intended to remove but didn't. This is not a well-edited book.
This book doesn't make me curious about what happens next. While I cared about the characters, I was easily distracted from this story because it was hard to get through. I appreciate the difficult work that any author does, but with that hard work, good, complete editing is essential.

Autumn Leaves A Small Town Lesbian Romance Novel Callie Rebecca Series Book 1 edition by Barbara Winkes Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
First let me say that I am so happy that this is only the 1st book in a series! This was such an amazing book. Rebecca never imagined there was anything beyond being a wife and mother. She & her husband had been married for 16 years and she supposed that she was happy. That is until Callie moved in across the street. Rebecca had a difficult time realizing that she could in fact be in love with another woman. Callie had a past that she was running from. It is really all about love. This story was just so beautifully written. I felt the angst of both women but completely understood how they were so attracted to each other. This book is a great example of wonderful writing. Thank you so much, Barbara, for a beautifully written book and for having more to follow.
I LOVED this book.It is so relevent that most of us can relate.I hope the next book has the same great writing.
That's all Rebecca tried to do. She doesn't understand the feelings she has for another human being. Granted, she's married and the other human happens to be a woman! Her love story begins when she meets Callie, the girl next door. How will the story and when she has a family that she loves, but the feelings she can't fight pull her in a different direction?
I really like the characters in this book, so once I started reading it I felt committed to their story. However Ms. Winkes writing style seems disjointed,
as if her thoughts were left unfinished. So as much as I would like to see where these characters are going, I don't believe I can stand to read the other three books in this series.
It was a good story and the prose was good but the plot was hard to follow. The story was told from the perspective of each of the 2 main characters and would abruptly switch back and forth until it was near impossible to tell which character was speaking. It would also leap forward in time with no warning, a topic would be left unresolved then suddenly in the next paragraph it was next week, no transition at all. I really didn't enjoy reading this book it was too much work to keep track of what was going on and to have to keep referring back so I could keep the storyline straight.
Loved this series
What an excellent coming out story as well as the development of Callie and Rebecca's love story. There was a lot of layers in the development of these characters that I'm sure will continue to be developed in the continued books in this series. Overall, I loved this book and look forward to the rest of this series!
